(1) - The Alto Tâmega region includes the municipalities of Boticas, Chaves, Montalegre, Ribeira de Pena, Valpaços and Vila Pouca de Aguiar.
(2) - The figures refer to foreign population with legal resident status.
(3) - Census data.
(4) - The values presented refer to the municipality of residence of the mother (not that of the child's birth).
(5) - The year presented corresponds to the last year of the pair of academic years.
(6) - The teacher may be counted as many times as the educational institutions where he/she teaches. The teacher is registered in the municipality where the institution’s headquarters is located, although he/she may teach at various branches of that institution that may be located in other municipalities.
(7) - Includes mobile medicine depots.
(8) - The values presented include enterprises, sole proprietors and the self employed. They exclude insurance and financial activities, Public Administration and Defence and Compulsory Social Security.
