PORTRAIT OF MUNICIPALITIES - 2016 Edition
Pordata launches another portrait. This time, it is a very special and innovative one. In this publication, Portugal is viewed through the magnifying glass of its 308 municipalities.
This proposition to get to know Portugal through its 308 municipalities, translates into maps that reflect the behaviour, in the territory, of 50 statistical indicators relating to 12 themes: Population, Housing and Living Conditions, Education, Culture, Health, Business, Employment, Social Protection, Municipal Finance, Environment, Energy and Territory, Electoral Participation and Tourism.
To the usual maps, in which the physical surface of each municipality is the basis of representation, distorted maps have been added.
In the distorted maps the area of each territory depends on the importance of the data under consideration in the context of theother territories. Thus, according to the statistical indicator in question, Portugal may take various forms, such as a bipolar, macrocephalous or cylindrical country.
The e-book version of the Portrait of Municipalitiesprovides direct access to the statistical data published in Pordata.
